Louder Than a Bomb-KC Semi-Finals

"Louder Than a Bomb" is a slam poetry competition that's made its way from Chicago to Kansas City. An annual city-wide youth poetry festival with a hip-hop aesthetic celebrating young poets in the Kansas City metro. Between February 26 and March 31, 2018, over 20 teams representing schools and community organizations compete for the crown and a spot at national festival Brave New Voices 2018. Louder Than a Bomb-KC invites high school students in the metro area to participate in a poetry competition in the popular slam format. The competition has grown from thirteen programs in its first year (2014) to twenty-one in 2016. Over 2,000 students and community members are expected to participate as audience members, adjudicators, advisers, and supporters in 2018.

The semi-finals will take place March 19th in the Gem Theater and March 20th in the Atrium from 6:00-9:00 pm. The finals are in the Gem Theater on March 24th from 7:00-10:30 pm.
