Film Screening: The Green Book: Guide To Freedom

This free film screening is part of the 2019-2020 Film Series with American Jazz Museum, Greater KC Black History Study Group, National Archives at Kansas City, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and the Bruce R. Watkins Center. The screening starts 6:00 pm.

Born George Baker in the late 1800s, he went by the name Father Major Jealous Divine and founded the International Peace Mission Movement in the 1930s. He was a controversial minister and ardent civil rights advocate, who fought for interracial harmony and claimed to be "God" on earth. The film will investigate his life, ministry, and activism. The film chronicles the life of American religious leader Father Divine (1877-1965). A post film discussion will be lead by Dr. Bob Hill, pastor emeritus of Community Christian Church in Kansas City, MO.
