Brandon Draper & Dave Pietro
Brandon Draper is a drummer, percussionist, producer, multi-instrumentalist and educator. His resume includes performances with the Kansas City Symphony, DJ Logic, Donna Summer, Mose Allison, Steve Coleman, Dick Oatts, Mike Moreno, Bobby Watson, and Kevin Hays.
With the Turkish-Jazz group Alaturka, Draper recorded, co-mixed and performed on their 2013 release Yalniz, receiving one of Downbeat Magazine's "Best Albums of 2013."
Currently Draper teaches jazz drums, world percussion, and steel band on the University of Kansas' music faculty. He also directs the university's Music Enterprise certificate program, which combines music business with entrepreneurship.
Dave Pietro has performed at jazz clubs, jazz festivals, schools and concert halls in more than 30 countries throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. From 1994-2016 he played lead alto saxophone and recorded seven CD’s with the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra. As a band leader, he has released seven CD’s. His latest CD, "Hypersphere," features his new band and is due to release in early 2020.
Pietro received a bachelor’s degree in music education from North Texas State University and his Master of Arts degree in jazz composition from New York University. Currently he holds the position of Music Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies and gives hundreds of workshops and concerts at schools around the world. He continues to perform with the Grammy Award-winning Maria Schneider Orchestra and Grammy-nominated groups the Gil Evans Project and Darcy James Argue's Secret Society.
