Book Signing: Archie J. Williams

Local author Archie J. Williams will be signing copies of his book The Evolution of Africans in North America on Saturday, August 11th from 10 am-noon in the Changing Gallery. Copies of the book will be for sale.

Archie J. Williams is a historian with an interest in the evolution of African descendents in North America. Over the years he has traced and recorded the major events that have shaped the culture of both the African American community and American society as a whole. Mr. Williams has documented his findings in The Evolution of Africans in North America: An Anthology of The Three Phases of Perpetual Slavery (1995). Mr. Williams holds a BA and MA from the University of Missouri- Kansas City. He is a trained cognitive/behavioral therapist who uses an eco-systems perspective that integrates empowerment, social and economic justice, community and asset building, diversity, and cultural competence from a strength based model.
