Born and raised in Kansas City Missouri, Bryan Alford is an inspirational educator, motivational speaker, gifted photographer and a first call musician for many of the area’s top artist. Bryan's high energy and positive outlook on life are infectious and will naturally set the atmosphere around him. His ability to instantly connect and captivate his audiences has taken him from behind the drum set to performing center stage for over 20 years. Whether playing steel drums as the house entertainment for the Great Wolf Lodge Resorts for over 10 years or featuring as a soloist at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas with “Sticks of Thunder,” Bryan delivers high quality entertainment. In 2018 he was selected to represent the United States as the US Music Ambassador for UNESCO in San Cristobal Mexico.
Bryan received his B.A. of music and business from Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, Missouri. He founded Alford Music and Entertainment where he has taught and inspired thousands of students for 20 years. In 2008, he received the Kelsey Beshears Award given by the United Way and YWCA for his work in the community with young musicians. He then began receiving invitations to speak at United Way, public schools, parochial schools, Missouri Western State University, and more. He was commissioned by MWSU to study with Dr. Ellie Mannette, the actual inventor of the steel drums, at his “Festival of Steel” and is part of the official 50th anniversary celebration documentary.
In 2019 a photo of his was published in British Vogue Magazine two months in a row - June & July 2019 issues. He is in a movie that is currently running on Showtime called “Christmas at the Chateau”. His newest project the “Bryan Alford Experience” features Bryan on steel drum’s playing a smooth blend of the Caribbean and jazz. When Bryan is not performing, he is giving back to the community and is currently the drumline instructor at Brookside Charter School in Kansas City, Missouri where he inspires his students to be world-class musicians and citizens.
