The American Jazz Museum is proud to present a tribute concert series feat. the music of Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Lauryn Hill. Featured musicians include Kimberly Keyz, Connie J., JaySol, Love, Mae. C, and Tahirah. Two show times are available: 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm.

Arkansas native Kimberly Keyz resides in Kansas City, MO. Surrounded by music since age 5, Kimberly has sang background for artists Michael McDonald, Michael Bubble, and opened up for RnB singer Lyfe Jennings. Recently she started her own path of songwriting and is slated to release her first single, "FIYA (Fabulous In Your Absence). Be on the lookout for this southern soul to show you how it’s done!
Connie Johnson, known as Connie J., Singer, songwriter, worship leader to name a few, has been singing since the age of three with her twin, later singing with her family known as the Johnson Singers. She was a very shy child but always loved performing. By the age of 13 she started to embrace her gift in its totality singing with the Kansas East Jurisdictional State Choir as one of their lead vocalist. Connie J. And her 2 sisters later ventured off as teens to start their sister group, “The Johnson Sisters” later renamed “JS4” singing at churches, conferences and concerts around the states. Connie J. has conducted choir & praise and worship workshops in various states across this country and assisted in workshops in Italy. Urban Praise and Worship is her first love when it comes to music. She has been doing Praise & Worship and singing professionally for the past 10 years. Connie J. is excited to have released her 1st single entitled “Praise Him” on all major platforms. Her EP shades was released July 18, 2020.
Since making a musical debut in 2018 with her EP Inside My Head, JaySol has lit up the music scene with her breathtaking vocals and passionate songwriting ability. The Kansas City- based artist continues to captivate her audiences, blending her soulful melodic sound with the genres of pop, rock, jazz, and neo-soul. JaySol has had the opportunity of singing background for Howard Hewitt (lead singer of the Grammy-winning music group Shalamar), and touring with La'Porsha Renae, a Season 16 American Idol finalist. She also was recognized as Best Female Vocalist in 2020 for Kansas City's People Choice Award. Living life everyday doing what she loves most is the dream that JaSol chases with persistence. She wants to show the rest of the dreamers of the world: it is possible!

Influenced by hip hop, rock, jazz, soul & R&B, 'Kansas City's Princess' Love, Mae C. is making her mark as a world renowned, national independent artist. The singer/songwriter and self-acclaimed black girl of all magic studied computer design at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. But her passion for rhythm and writing could no longer be put on hold, and Love, Mae C became inspired by artists Treacherous 3, J. Cole, NWA, Jay Z, Nas, Erykah Badu, Kendrick Lamar, Tupac, Beyonce, Prince, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
“I would watch clips of these artist practicing, recording in the studio, or performing on big stages and I was always filled with an experience of art and music," says Love, Mae C. "To this day you hear the same passion and drive translated into music, and that's what I love to do the most: give."
Born in Chicago,Illinois and raised in Barbados, Tahirah first performed onstage at the age of 5 in her fathers' performing arts dance company, Sundance. She fell in love with music while on the island, since the age of 17 she hasn’t put down the mic. With influences of reggae, soul, dancehall and RnB, Tahirah strives to be not be a singer, but instead a "vibe."
