American Jazz Museum update on COVID-19 Coronavirus

American Jazz Museum update on COVID-19 Coronavirus

Regarding hours and activities

We continue to comply with the City of Kansas City’s “Stay at Home” Order, and support Mayor Lucas in his efforts to keep our community safe and healthy. As a result, the American Jazz Museum is scheduled to stay closed through April 24th.

During this difficult time, we are thinking of you, our community and supporters who we strive to serve every day. We look forward to a time when it is safe to welcome everyone back through our doors. Until then, museum staff are working hard behind the scenes to keep essential operations running, and we are dedicated to continuing to deliver great content through our website and social media channels.

You and your loved ones can visit for all of our great digital resources and activities including:

Virtual tour – explore the Museum exhibits with just the click of a mouse! In partnership with Google Arts & Culture, we bring you a walk-through version of our permanent exhibit, accessible from any browser.

Digital Exhibitions – celebrate 20 years of the American Jazz Museum with The Legacy Plays On! a digital exhibition through Google Arts & Culture. Featuring jewels of the collection, a history of AJM, and an in-depth look at how the Museum has worked to advance the artform over the last 20 years.

Spotify – listen to fulfill your daily dose of jazz. We are specially curating playlists just for you. From the hottest big bands on the KC scene right now, to swingin’ piano trios, we present listening opportunities to keep music an integral part of your day!

Printable Coloring Pages and Activity Sheets – create works of art and puzzle solve at-home through educational crosswords and word searches centered on our exhibits and objects. Please feel free to print these activities and integrate in your home entertainment and schooling as you see fit.

And of course, stay tuned as we continue to work to bring you the AJM experience that we all love, to the comfort of your home.

Take care, and we look forward to engaging with you!

All the best to you and yours,
