American Jazz Museum and Harvesters Provide Free Meals for Kids

(Kansas City, MO.) The American Jazz Museum is partnering with Harvesters Community Food Network to provide free, nutritional meals to kids as part of Kids Café, a program designed to serve meals to children under 18 who are at risk of hunger.

Only 16% of children who receive free/reduced meals during the school year receive a meal from the USDA in the summer. In Kansas and Missouri, those numbers are even lower. The American Jazz Museum will be a host site for “meet and eat” which will take place every Friday from July 21st through August 11th, in the museum’s atrium. Meal service will begin at 11:00 am following Jazz Storytelling; free, educational programming that introduces kids to the sounds and styles of jazz. Meal service will conclude at 11:30 am. Patrons of Kids Café are required to stay on site to complete their meals.

The American Jazz Museum is dedicated to providing opportunities which have a positive impact on the greater Kansas City community and beyond. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
