American Jazz Museum

Located in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District in Kansas City, MO, the American Jazz Museum showcases the sights and sounds of jazz through interactive exhibits and films, the Changing Gallery exhibit space, Horace M. Peterson III Visitors Center, The Blue Room, and Gem Theater. Since its inception in September 1997, the Museum hosts thousands of students, scholars, musicians and fans of the arts for over 200 performances, education programs, special exhibitions, community events and more each year, providing an opportunity to learn about the legends, honor their legacy, or simply enjoy the sounds of modern day jazz.


Group Tours (25+ visitors )

Due to Kansas City's COVID-19 policies and procedures, this service is currently unavailable.

A guided or unguided group tour is an excellent opportunity for schools, camps, service organizations, travel groups, and large families to receive an introduction to jazz! 

Guided tours must be reserved in advance. Led by experienced museum staff, our guided tours provide a unique experience that enhances your group's understanding and appreciation of the American Jazz Museum. Guided tours are available year-round. To make a reservation for guided tours, fees may be paid in advance to secure the date and time of your choice. Methods of payment accepted are Purchase Order, online payment (credit card), or check by mail. Please contact us to make a reservation and for payment details.
