Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival: Headliner Talent Finalized for Saturday, October 12 – “SALUTE TO GEORGE DUKE”

WHO: The headliner talent has been finalized and will be centered around our new theme “SALUTE TO GEORGE DUKE” – featuring headliners: Pieces of a Dream, Bobby Lyle & Maysa, Con Funk Shun, The Messenger Legacy, Bettye LaVette, and Kelley Hunt with local and regional talent.

WHAT: The American Jazz Museum is pleased to announce that plans for Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival are generating excitement throughout the metropolitan area.

WHEN: To ensure success, we will be presenting a one-day event again this year to be held on Saturday, October 12. It is important to the Kansas City region to keep the momentum of this great event moving forward with an eye to offering a multiple-day festival format in the coming years.

AWARDS, PURPOSE AND FESTIVAL MISSION

Voted best 2011 & 2012 Music Festival in Kansas City by the CVA Visitor’s Choice Awards, the festival features great jazz, blues, food and fun at the award-winning American Jazz Museum in the heart of the Historic Jazz District. The American Jazz Museum has purposely designed the festival to be a greatly diverse experience for jazz and blues lovers of all ages. All proceeds from the festival will support cultural programming at the American Jazz Museum.

WHERE: Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival has attracted thousands of visitors to the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District to celebrate Kansas City’s greatest traditions – jazz and blues. Featuring great performers on multiple stages, a food and arts court anchored by the best food, arts and crafts vendors in Kansas City, the Jazz Links Education Workshop, jazz film screenings, panel sessions, the children’s pavilion and a host of other activities, the festival provides family-style fun in one of America’s greatest jazz crossroads, 18th & Vine.
