WHAT IS AN OPEN REHEARSAL?

The Open Rehearsal Program is an American Jazz Museum Education Department offering that gives community musical organizations and performing arts organizations the opportunity to perform rehearsals and concerts in a public space before an audience.

“The museum’s on-going Open Rehearsals Program helps us animate this wonderful atrium space,” states AJM Education Manager and Poet-In-Residence, Glenn North.

An Open Rehearsal is a fascinating opportunity to watch the musical ensembles at work, and see how a piece of music is shaped and polished for public performances by the ensemble leader and the musicians. Bring a lunch, get a cold drink from the Swing Shop and listen to the music. Tour the museums after the Open Rehearsal.

ADMISSION: IT’S FREE | LOCATION: IN THE ATRIUM

Brownell-Talbot High School Jazz Band from Nebraska (http://www.brownell.edu/) performs in the museum atrium as part of the AJM Open Rehearsals Program. American Jazz Museum CEO Greg Carroll gave an impromptu clinic and master class to the group (see video) that was well received by the students and their band director. He also sat in on vibes, drums and piano.
